Title: Mental Toughness, Mindful Self-Care and Procrastination in Working and Non-Working Students

Abstract

The study aims to investigate the relationship between mental toughness, mindful self-care and procrastination in working and non-working students. A correlational study design was used to access the relationship between the study variables. The participants include 226 university students mainly of BS/BSC and MS/MPhil levels, aged between 20-28 years. The sample contains equal number of working and non-working students. Participants were given different self-reporting tools, Mental Toughness Scale for University Students (MTS), Mindful Self-Care Scale Brief (MSCS- Brief) and Student?s Procrastination Scale (SPS). In order to examine the relationship between the study variables, person product moment correlation, multiple hierarchal regression, mediation analysis and other inferential statistics were used. The results of the study showed that mental toughness has a positive correlation with its factors (personal strength, optimism, honesty) and mindful self-care, whereas procrastination has a negative correlation with mental toughness and its factors (personal strength, optimism, honesty) in working and non- working students. Furthermore optimism, honesty and mindful self-care negatively predicts procrastination in students. However, no significant gender differences and professional status differences were found
