Commitment to youth mental health. Mental health drivers questionnaire
Abstract
The issue of commitment to mental health at the methodological level of psychology, as well as the real demands related to the maintenance, preservation, and prevention of mental health among youth, have been actively addressed in recent years at the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of RUDN University. Mental health is viewed as a state of internal well-being that occurs in the absence of painful mental phenomena. This state enables the regulation of behavior and activity that is adequate to the conditions of the environment, utilizing one's abilities. Such a state is experienced as a feeling of satisfaction and happiness (Rubinstein S.L., 2002).
Department of Psychology and Pedagogy has established that young people with potentially more pronounced issues related to psychological well-being and associated mental health generally have a more negative attitude toward seeking professional help in this area, which can exacerbate existing problems. This highlights the importance of choosing effective technologies for practical work with youth. While in 2022 the focus was on studying the phenomenon of attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help (it was found that young people with potentially more pronounced psychological well-being issues and related mental health concerns generally have a more negative attitude toward seeking professional help in this area, which may exacerbate existing problems. This highlights the need to choose effective technologies for practical work by psychologists with youth), in 2023 we concentrated on identifying the drivers of psychological activity among individuals and developing an original methodology aimed at diagnosing indicators of competencies to determine levels of psychological activity. The predictive goal of this work is to create a convenient technology for diagnosing and developing key functional psychological competencies.
The need to diagnose mental health, since a lot depends on it, and psychogenic factors occupy a large place in it, we are faced with the question - how does a person know how to regulate his mental health, how does he do it? Most authors associate a person’s ability to be healthy with three basic psychological competencies: goals, people, time.
