Title: A practical treatment approach of PTSD on mothers and babies after traumatic experiences during pregnancy and birth

Abstract

Introduction
Scientific studies show that already early experiences cause traces in the brain of a fetus.
Especially traumatic influences caused by problems during pregnancy, birth and afterwards.
We know the risk of these negative impacts on mothers and babies: postnatal depression, difficulties in attachment, lack of self-regulation management and further problems in mental and social development.

Biography

Maria Weissenboeck is registered as clinical and health psychologist, psychotherapist and supervisor. After her studies of psychology and human biology she started working in one of the largest women hospitals in Austria, the Semmelweis Frauenklinik. There she developed herself a concept supporting women, parents and their children during pregnancy, birth and especially postnatal time. She extended her professionalism by education in client-centered psychotherapy, children-, adolescent- and family psychology, followed by traumafocused therapy, EMDR, Ego-state therapy, hypnotherapy and family therapy. - She is convinced that the level of professional and personal development through certificated specialist trainings is necessary.All these trainings enable her to use the best tool for a specific case.She is working in her private practice in Vienna, as lecturer and supervisor at the University of Applied Sciences for midwives and other institutions.
