Title: The Impact of an Islamic based Social Emotional Intervention on Students’ Mental Wellbeing

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the impact of a social emotional (SEL) intervention on students? mental wellbeing. This study is one of the first trails in the Middle East, in which  an 8 weeks program, based on Arabic and Islamic aspects, was designed, implemented and evaluated in a secondary school in Qatar. The study included an intervention and a control group. The results revealed a significant difference in the wellbeing levels for students who participated in the SEL program compared to the students who did not participate. These results indicate the need for interventions that serve the social, emotional and psychological needs for students.
